Coral & Bryan | A Madison wedding

September 3, 2010

The day was perfectly blue and clear, with just a hint of summer hot that every Wisconsinite knows to savor. Coral and Bryan opted for a first look and the stairs at the Concourse Hotel provided a perfect location with the right amount of anticipation and visibility, both for me and all of the wedding party and parents. We traveled about the city throughout the day pausing to breathe in cool lake breezes, laugh and soak up the Madison atmosphere, with the Capitol being our first stop. Most Madison couples (understandably) want to have wedding photos in or around Madison’s iconic Capitol building, but since Coral works for the Governor it was a must for their late July wedding.I particularly love the architectural details of the Capitol and how the light posts and strong lines of the stone allowed me to play with vintage inspired toning. And, to top it all off Bryan couldn’t stop smiling while Coral has some of the most beautifully shaped eyes I have ever photographed. Thus, the several portraits of Coral that have made it onto the blog this time.

Pops of color and hints of whimsy and playfulness appeared throughout the day – from little paper cones of wild flowers at the church to hilarious family photo table cards (everyone LOVED dad’s tight 70’s ringlets). The reception was marked by sweet toasts and bountiful kissing. Once everyone had had at least 1 cupcake the party started, kicked off by easily one of the best father daughter dance sequences I’ve ever seen set to the movie classic I’ve had the time of my life.

Coral and Bryan – It was an honor to be present for your wedding, to be invited in to capture the official beginning of your life together. Thank you for making it at turns sweet, surprising, funny and always sincere.
