Jenna & Mike tie the knot

August 11, 2010

Jenna and Mike are like two peas in a pod. Is that a cheesy way to describe love? I don’t mean it to be, because something about the saying fits them – fresh and young with sweet personalities they spent their wedding day snug together. There was hardly a moment were they weren’t touching, heads tilted towards one another, his arm around her waist, fingers intertwined. They even opted for a first look so they could start being together sooner.

The colors of the day were multiple and they incorporated lovely rituals and details to mark the start of their marriage. They literally tied the knot with lengths of rope brought forth by family and friends, each a different color to signify emotions and how they will work through them as husband and wife. (A sweet, funny moment went something like this – the officiant: We ask for the red rope, red reminds us of anger. Jenna will you make Mike angry? Jenna’s reply: Probably.) One of the first emotions they had to deal with was perhaps disappointment as it started to rain – and hard – about 5 minutes into the outdoor ceremony. But any disappointment they may have felt must have soon melted into oblivious happiness as we all rushed under the nearby covered pavilion and continued the ceremony in a cozy, unique, snug together way.

The rain left as quickly as it had come and the guests settled in for a delightful cocktail-filled hour followed by tasty food, genuine cheers and a raucous party. I have to toast the two of them for all their details. A cake with marzipan mushrooms? Yep, they had one and it was magical. No plain cocktail napkins, here – those are their dad’s faces. And can I have a big topiary H for my door at home, please?

Jenna and Mike included a photobooth in their day and I’ll post a slideshow of a few select image from their haul of three or four hundred snapshots in a post later this week. I’m including a boat load of dancing pictures instead here because it was simply a groove-filled night with barely an aunt not on the dance floor.  And yep, he put a ring on it.

If you’ve seen Powers of Ten you’ll love this set of shots…

Sigh…I loved photographing this wedding. Jenna and Mike – I’m so happy for you and the fact that you found each other and so excited that you found me to photograph your wedding! Thank you for including me. Mazel Tov and best wishes.

Beautiful photos, Heather. And it does look as though it was quite cozy and wonderful. I love the rope idea, have never heard of it before.
